Bezinc Caps

COMPOSITION

Each capsule of Bezinc contains: Vitamin B1 USP 10 mg, Vitamin B2 USP 10 mg, Vitamin B3 USP 50 mg, Vitamin B5 USP 15 mg, Vitamin B6 USP 3 mg, Vitamin B12 USP 15 mcg, Vitamin C BP 1 mg, Folic acid USP 1 mg, Zinc 20 mg (As Zinc sulphate monohydrate).

ACTIONS

Vitamins are essential for the maintenance of normal metabolic functions. The water-soluble vitamins of the B-complex group play a part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, alcohol and branched chain amino acids: a vital role in cellular oxidation and in the synthesis of DNA and fatty acids in myelin. Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is necessary for collagen formation, tissue repair in the body and may be involved in some oxidation-reduction reactions. It is also involved in the utilization of carbohydrates, synthesis of lipids and proteins and the preservation of blood vessel integrity. Folic acid is necessary for normal erythropoiesis and nucleoprotein synthesis. Zinc is need for enzymatic activity, cell multiplication and insulin activity. Zinc supplementation is useful when there is dietary deficiency or malabsorption and when there is increased body loss of zinc which occurs following trauma and burns. 

INDICATIONS

Bezinc is indicated for supportive nutritional supplementation in conditions in which the vitamin B-complex and vitamin C are required prophylactically and therapeutically. Vitamin deficiencies may be associated with restricted diets, improper food intake, decreased absorption and prolonged stress, infections or chronic fevers, following bums and trauma. Vitamin supplements may be necessary for those on unusual diets, on reducing diets with drastically reduced food selection and also for those with Inadequate diets such as alcoholics, the elderly, those with diabetes mellitus, hepatobillatytract disease, those recovering from surgery and in convalescence.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Adverse effects of zinc include abdominal pain and dyspepsia. Water soluble vitamins seldom cause toxicity in persons with normal renal function.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Bezinc is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any of the constituents. 

PRECAUTIONS

No problems have been documented in pregnant and nursing mothers with the intake of the recommended daily requirements, however, studies have not been made on humans and animals.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Pyridoxine may interact with levodopa in an antagonistic manner but such antagonism does not occur if a carbidopa/levodopa combination is given.
