Gastril Tablet

COMPOSITION

Each chewable tablet contains: Simethicone U.S.P 50 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide U.S.P 250 mg, Dried Aluminum Hydroxide Gel U.S.P. 250 mg. 

INDICATIONS

Gastril is an acid neutralizer provides symptomatic relief from hyperacidity, peptic ulcer, heart bum, reflux esophagitis, gastritis, symptoms arising due to flatulence and dyspepsia. 

PHARMACOLOGY

Gastril has a high acid neutralizing capacity. Aluminum hydroxide and Magnesium hydroxide in the stomach reacts with the Hydrochloric acid to form Aluminum chloride and Magnesium chloride respectively and produces demulcent action and decrease acidity. These are not absorbed after administration hence acid base imbalance is minimal. Simethicone is an antifoaming substance which exerts anti-flatulent effect. It does not cause constipation or diarrhea. 

ABSORPTION & EXCRETION

Gastril ingredients are non-systemic antacids, so will not be absorbed after administration hence acid base imbalance is minimal. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Gastril is contraindicated in patients with hypophosphatemia. 

PRECAUTIONS

Prolonged or intensive therapy in patients with severe renal insufficiency may lead to hypermagnesemia. 

POSSIBLE ADCERSE EFFECTS

Constipation, diarrhea. Consult your physician if you have any adverse effect that continue or get worse. 

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Gastril may interfere with absorption of tetracyclines and iron.
